WP Offload Media Lite for Amazon S3, DigitalOcean Spaces, and Google Cloud Storage

WP Offload Media Lite for Amazon S3, DigitalOcean Spaces, and Google Cloud Storage

This plugin automatically copies images, videos, documents, and any other media added through WordPress’ media uploader to Amazon S3, DigitalOcean Spaces or Google Cloud Storage. It then automatically replaces the URL to each media file with their respective Amazon S3, DigitalOcean Spaces or Google Cloud Storage URL or, if you have configured Amazon CloudFront or another CDN with or without a custom domain, that URL instead. Image thumbnails are also copied to the bucket and delivered through the correct remote URL.

Uploading files directly to your Amazon S3, DigitalOcean Spaces or Google Cloud Storage account is not currently supported by this plugin. They are uploaded to your server first, then copied to the bucket. There is an option to automatically remove the files from your server once they are copied to the bucket however.

If you’re adding this plugin to a site that’s been around for a while, your existing media files will not be copied to or served from Amazon S3, DigitalOcean Spaces or Google Cloud Storage. Only newly uploaded files will be copied to and served from the bucket. The pro upgrade has an upload tool to handle existing media files.

Image Optimization

Although WP Offload Media doesn’t include image optimization features, we work closely with the author of EWWW Image Optimizer to ensure they always work well together. Not only do we recommend EWWW Image Optimizer but we officially support its integration with WP Offload Media.

Support is useless even with the Pro version. They will replace your URLs despite what they say. Offloading all your media is completely unreliable and you end up with thousands of broken links. I’ve destroyed a client relationship with this once trustworthy plugin and their useless support. They have no ideas, they just keep sticking to the script. Now I have to go through and manually repair thousands of links on hundreds of pages to undo the damage they caused while they blame ‘a different plugin complication’. The truth is they don’t know how their plugin actually works. It replaces your URLs. It infects your system. Stay far away.

The free version (lite) is close to useless. You can’t even configure a CDN. I also purchased the paid version(about $40). It seems that’s also half backed. It doesn’t offload javascript, css or fonts. I think they have more expensive options (i.e. $200 ) but it’s all shady and they don’t tell you which version actually does all the offloading so that you can buy again a full version. I recommend you to stay away from these crooks

Free version can’t upload existing files to S3 so it’s useless for my use case. Pro is quite expensive; my use case would require 10k files for about USD 200 per year.

While it takes a little while to get everything configured (a bit of a learning curve to everything), this is a fantastic plugin! Great UI/UX too. Kudos to the team @deliciousbrains.

Been using Offload Media for years, and ran into a problem installing on a new site. Support found my issue quickly and the site works well. I like this plugin because it is completely transparent, makes my pages load faster, and takes all my largest files off my hosting server.
