Yes. Compared to the standard PHP `mail()` function, which many WordPress installations use without further configuration, sending via SMTP is generally much more reliable. ### What is SMTP and how do I use it? SMTP is a protocol for sending emails and is currently the standard for reliably sending messages on the web. With SMTP, you simply use your own email address—for example, the one you already have with your hosting or email provider—as the sender address for all emails sent from WordPress. The actual sending takes place via your provider’s mailbox; the plugin merely handles the setup in WordPress and verifies the connection. ### Does the plugin support compliance with data protection laws such as the GDPR or CCPA? All email logs are stored exclusively in the local database on your own server. The freely configurable retention period and limits support the principle of data minimization.
