and for categories you can use Custom Category Template

Installation

Simple steps:

Extract the zip file and just drop the contents in the wp-content/plugins/ directory of your WordPress installation.
Then activate the Plugin from Plugins page.
Done!

What are the requirements?: PHP 5.2 and up.
